Sports Massage Therapy

When athletes use massage therapy on a regular basis, they live and play in less pain, recover more quickly and have fewer injuries. And that’s the bottom line. Every athlete experiences pain and soreness to one degree or another and those who say they don’t are either not telling the whole story, or they have just gotten used to the pain and don’t see it as pain any longer. Both very risky adaptations – that can leave an athlete subject to a sudden move or turn upsetting the whole applecart and knocking them down for a while … or for good.

So why wait for an injury to take you out of the game and why live with pain you don’t have to live with any longer? Take advantage of the knowledge and skilled hands of an experienced sports massage therapist who can help you eliminate pain, prevent injuries, reduce soreness and keep your muscles healthy and always ready for the next event.

TTPT has been working with me now for about two or three years and the improvement and knowledge that I have gained are exceptional.  I originally came in with lower back pain, tennis elbow and sore wrists from golf and playing tennis and since working with them on a regular basis I can both play my sports and travel as I need to without pain.  I would recommend TTPT to anyone!

Terrie has been a life saver for me on numerous occasions for nearly twenty years now. Since I tend to overdo training, I have had many nagging injuries. She has cured me quickly, but more importantly helps me each time to consider underlying causes, and learn new stretches and weight training techniques which won’t cause injury. She can treat symptoms easily, but she is more interested in addressing the underlying problem to prevent long term reoccurrences.  And her warm and engaging style is very patient friendly. I recommend TTPT with no reservation and have done so through the years to the deep gratitude of friends and patients whom I have sent to Terrie and her colleagues.

Terrie is a highly competent professional.  And I have found that she can get rid of pain in a far shorter amount of time than can other therapists. Per visit, she charges more, but because she gets rid of pain in far fewer visits than other therapists, she actually charges far less “per pain!

Terrie was very helpful with eliminating the pain in my elbow, which allowed me to get back to my tennis!  She keeps my body in working order now which also allows me to do the other various sports I enjoy. Headaches, back pain: Beverly 62, Raleigh, NC Retired. “I originally went to Teri at TTPT for lower back pain and she not only helped me with that, but now keeps my body in shape so that I can enjoy the yard work that I love.  I also have much fewer headaches because of the work on my neck and back muscles. Bursitis in both hips/sciatica, difficulties walking: Tanya, 65, Raleigh, NC Homemaker.  “Ten years ago, playing with my grandchildren, climbing fences, swinging on rope swings, hiking through the woods as well as riding on the back of my husbands’ motorcycle were easy activities to enjoy. Then a nagging pain that had been in my left hip began to increase through the years.  It was originally treated once with a cortisone injection, which gave some relief for a while.  Then the pain recurred and eventually the injections did no good.  Nor did spinal pain injections offered by my orthopedic.  Yet my spine and hip x-rays were “unremarkable.” Pain management was recommended.  But I wanted to know the root cause of the pain, not just how to endure it with medication. My dear husband recommended that I see a chiropractor and a trigger point therapist since I had not responded to several very kind and capable doctors’ attempts to treat my pain.  My whole life style was being affected by my pain and I was getting to where I could not walk, climb steps, or sleep on my side. So I went to a good chiropractor we knew, and had also heard three people speak of TTPT and how they had been helped there. So I called.  Terrie was incredibly well trained with years of experience and having had pain herself in the past, she understood what I was going through almost without my having to say a word.  She could see the pain in my face, and could see by watching my gait how much I struggled just to walk.  Once she started doing the treatments for my muscles and trigger points I immediately felt a peace that my path was about to change, and that was true. It took several months to gain good mobility and to effectively relieve the pain.  And during that time it was also suggested that I have my leg length evaluated and it was discovered that my right leg was structurally shorter.  This imbalance had been what was causing my nagging pain all along and once it was corrected I had no more left side hip pain.  And our daughter had the very same experience.  How could only a ¼” make that much of a difference? Well, it does because I felt the relief from the remedy.  But eventually I still had to have a knee surgery because over the years of walking around with even a small imbalance, it wore away my ligaments on one side.  That was 2 years ago.  Now, it is so wonderful to be able to walk again, climb steps and sleep on either side without pain.  And I still can enjoy playing with my grandchildren and riding on the back of my husband’s motorcycle!  The high level of competence of the compassionate, kind and well trained professionals at TTPT is remarkable. They have also become dear friends to me and they are a vital part of my health maintenance program as the years tick away.  Aging does not have to be painful on any level and I believe that God placed Terrie and her practice in my life to keep me up and running in order to be the best I can be for my ministry to my family, friends, and those whom I have yet to meet.
