The story of our clinic

Our
Story

On August 1, 1989, Triangle Trigger-Point Therapy (TTPT) opened its doors specializing in Neuromuscular Massage Therapy (NMT). This was at a time when few knew the word trigger point and when the State of North Carolina had misclassified therapeutic massage as “adult entertainment.” Undeterred, Terrie Bellairs pioneered a small business in Raleigh, NC dedicated to a time-honored art form she knew would greatly benefit others: a deep tissue style of hands-on therapy that is still today one of the greatest tools on earth for relieving soft tissue pain and discomfort. Originally located at the Campus North building on Spring Forest Rd, TTPT continued to grow entirely on the referrals of satisfied clients and local health care practitioners. Amidst generating in its first year more business than it could handle, Terrie was so grateful when two of her own clients became interested in changing professions and being trained with her unique skills. This is how Terrie, Tommie and Rosemary became the first ‘three musketeers” of pain slaying in North Raleigh. Over the next three decades Terrie provided jobs and individual training for more than a dozen other therapists seeking her specific skills and insights before going out on their own.

Our Work Is Our Passion

In 1996, TTPT relocated to the quiet cul-de-sac of professional office condominiums on Wind Chime Court where 95% of its clients still arrive through word-of-mouth. In 2009 to celebrate their first 20 years in business, Terrie expressed her appreciation to hundreds of maintenance/tune up clients, local colleagues, and former staff with an evening of fun, reflection, live music, and fabulous food from Sisters Catering. Also doubling as a fund raiser, many generous guests donated over $10,000.00 to the courageous kids at the North Carolina Children’s hospital. TTPT is an ongoing supporter of organizations such as Christian Ministries, FCA, The American Red Cross, Interact, Disabled American Veterans, The Humane Society, and Operation Smile. Each year, a percentage of all proceeds go to one or more of these amazing organizations.

TTPT kept me working and functional for a long time until surgery became the only option.  After which, now Terrie keeps me functional so I don’t re-injure my self. Her professionalism and knowledge are unsurpassed. It is much more than feeling good.  It’s about getting healthy.

Working with Terrie has been a blessing to me. I was in constant pain from the age of 11, with a torn groin muscle, Legg Perthes, and several hip surgeries, including a hip replacement.  All the orthopedic doctors told me that my only other option was more surgery and more anti-inflammatory medication. Terrie noticed that I had a substantial leg length imbalance from my replacement and once it was corrected it I eventually got out of pain. I am now medication free and virtually pain free everyday.  Whenever I do experience pain, thanks again to Terrie, I have the tools to help myself out of it through proper stretching, exercises, correcting my posture, etc. I credit Terrie and TTPT for everything.  She is extremely knowledgeable and I thank God everyday for bringing her into my life and for waking up pain free on a consistent basis!  Before her, my life was very difficult.  And I’m not sure if I have ever told her, and if I have … certainly not enough –Thanks Terrie for all you do!!!  You totally ROCK!

While deployed on a Special Forces "A" detachment in a combat zone, I was involved in two explosive device incidents in which I incurred soft tissue damage, traumatic brain injury and deeper right side joint damage issues. The result of these injuries was almost constant hip, head and shoulder pain with additional dark emotional/psychological challenges. With no help from traditional drugs therapies, I reached out to Terrie and TTPT. She transformed the way I thought about, and approached pain and pain release. Through deep tissue therapy, meditation and bio-realignment I have been able to reduce my pain to almost nil and when acute physical or emotional pain does arise I have awareness systems I use to isolate and control. Terrie has literally not only saved my life, but opened my consciousness up to an entirely new way of seeing and realizing gratitude. Thank you  Namaste"

I have suffered from migraines since about age 10.  And I went through drug therapies, traction and chiropractic without any real relief.  It was not unusual to have an 18-34 hour migraine once a week, and a headache every single day.  Two years ago, my chiropractor referred me to Terrie, and although I was skeptical that anyone could help me, I made an appointment.  By my second visit, I was already receiving substantial relief.  And after four visits it was like a miracle.  I have had perhaps two migraines in the last year or so, and now I go days on end without even a headache.  And when I feel one approaching, Terrie has shown me how to relieve it myself before it takes hold.  Thank you Teri for giving me my life back!

My entire family and I have been going to Terrie for over 13 years. Most of us have regularly scheduled appointments just to stay on top of any issues we have.  Terrie is a delightful person and an absolute professional.  She is the best.
